Synopsis

Carlyle Group, a multinational private equity, alternative asset management and financial services corporation, agreed to acquire stake in Asia Satellite Telecommunications, a commercial operator of communication spacecraft, from General Electric, a multinational conglomerate, for $483m. Carlyle will seek to use compulsory acquisition rights to buy all the outstanding AsiaSat shares in the event that holders accept its offer for at least 90m shares.
