Synopsis
Ontario Power Generation, a clean electricity generator that produces about half of the province’s power using diverse portfolio of publically-owned generating assets, agreed to acquire Eagle Creek Renewable Energy, a company that owns and operates 85 hydroelectric facilities, from Power Corporation of Canada, Claridge and Hudson Clean Energy for $298m. “By expanding our core business with this purchase, OPG is capitalizing on a new growth opportunity by making an investment in a strategic set of hydroelectric assets that will produce an attractive return for our shareholder, the Province of Ontario,” Jeff Lyash, Ontario Power Generation CEO.
