American Tower to acquire a 49% stake in minority stake in Ghana and Uganda Tower from MTN for $523m.

American Tower, an operator and developer of multitenant communications real estate, agreed to acquire a minority stake in Ghana and Uganda Tower, the telecommunications towers businesses, from MTN Group, a South African multinational mobile telecommunications company, for $523m. "Following the completion of these transactions, MTN will have realised proceeds of approximately c. $850m within the first 12 months of this program. Realising proceeds from simplifying the group remains a major strategic objective and we expect further progress in this program in 2020," Rob Shuter, MTN President and CEO.
