Synopsis
Intermedia acquired of air passenger rights portal Flightright, which is based in Potsdam, Germany. Financial terms were not disclosed. Flightright's business model is based on the judicial enforcement of claims for damages for airline passengers in the event of cancellations or delays. Legaltech solutions are used to enable passengers to file a standardized claim for damages. According to its own statements, the company retains 20% to 30% of the amount of the damage payout. The company, which was founded in 2010, employs 140 people and has already won €200m in damages. Last year, Flightright took over its competitor Flugrecht and founded a subsidiary called X-Right, which is to offer additional legal services to consumers. Intermedia is headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and is a subsidiary of Medien Union, one of Germany's leading media groups, which owns shares in several daily newspapers. Intermedia is the holding company for Meadien’s investments primarily in the field of digital media offerings.
