Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology, agreed to acquire the Healthcare Information Systems business of Carestream Health, a US-based provider of medical imaging and healthcare IT solutions for hospitals, imaging centers and specialty medical clinics. Philips expects to complete the transaction in the second half of 2019, subject to customary closing conditions, including the relevant regulatory approvals. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. “By becoming part of Philips, the Healthcare Information Systems business will have a greater opportunity to thrive and grow. Both organizations share a commitment to meaningful innovation which is deeply embedded in each company’s culture. Customers will have access to a broader portfolio of healthcare IT solutions to simplify medical image management, enable effective collaboration and enhance patient care,” Ludovic d’Aprea, Carestream General Manager for Healthcare Information Solutions.
