The New York Yankees, an American professional baseball team, together with Blackstone Group, Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns local TV stations across the country, and online retailing giant Amazon, completed the acquisition of Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network from Disney for $3.4bn. Under the terms of the deal, the Yankees will be the majority owner of the YES network, which airs the Yankees games as well as games of other New York teams including the Brooklyn Nets and New York City Football Club. “This transaction brings the YES Network and all of its popular programming even closer to the organization that inspired its very development. Along with our partners, we look forward to greatly expanding the way that sports content is delivered and consumed by fans everywhere,” Hal Steinbrenner, Yankee Global Enterprises CEO.
