CDPQ completed the acquisition of a minority stake in Cirque du Soleil from Guy Laliberte for $75m.

Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec completed the acquisition of a minority stake in Cirque du Solei Entertainment Group, a Montreal-based entertainment company and a contemporary circus producer,l from the company’s founder, Guy Laliberte, for $75m. Following this investment, CDPQ owns nearly 20% of Cirque du Soleil. “We are happy to strengthen our presence among shareholders of Cirque du Soleil, an iconic entertainment brand with worldwide renown. CDPQ intends to continue backing Cirque du Soleil in its development projects that have showcased Quebecers’ creativity and expertise for several decades,” Charles Emond, CDPQ President and Chief Executive Officer.
