Synopsis
AustralianSuper, a pension fund, failed to acquire Infratil, an infrastructure investment company, for $3.8bn. The acquisition would give AustralianSuper control of Infratil’s assets in New Zealand and Australia, including stakes in a telephone company, an airport, renewable energy businesses, data centres, and wind farm firm Tilt Renewables. “We see significant potential to invest in the growth of Infratil’s assets over the long term on behalf of AustralianSuper’s members, which allows us to provide significant value to Infratil shareholders today,” Nik Kemp, AustralianSuper Head of Infrastructure. On December 9, 2020 Infratil rejects AustralianSuper's $3.8bn offer.
