QIA, a sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar, and The Rise Fund, a global impact investing platform of alternative investment firm TPG, agreed to acquire a 7.5% stake in Airtel Mobile Commerce, a mobile money business, from Airtel Africa and Bharti Airtel for $200m. "Airtel Money plays a critical role in facilitating economic activity, including for customers without access to traditional financial services. We firmly believe in its mission to expand these efforts over the coming years," Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud, QIA CEO.
