Enel and Grupo Energia Bogota-backed Emgesa to merge with Codensa in a $9bn deal.

Enel and Grupo Energia Bogota-backed Emgesa, a power generation and retail business, agreed to merge with Codensa, a power distributor and retailer, in a $9bn deal. With additional solar and wind power projects in development in Colombia and Panama, the new Emgesa, as Enel Colombia, would eventually run 5,470MW of conventional and green energy in total.
