Italia Trasporto Aereo, a state-owned flag carrier of Italy, agreed to acquire the flight operations of Alitalia, an Italian airline, for $101m. The Treasury of Italy has reached a deal with the European Commission for ITA to replace the current debt-ridden Alitalia. ITA will maintain 85% of the slots currently held by Alitalia at Milan Linate Airport and 43% of the slots at Rome Fiumicino International Airport.
