Synopsis
Wyloo Metals, a mining company, completed the acquisition of Noront Resources, a Canadian-based mining company, for $485m. "Wyloo Metals was founded to ensure a successful transition to a lower carbon future by supplying the necessary critical metals to the world. Today, we take an important step in our long-term strategy to become a producer of metals needed for a cleaner future," Luca Giacovazzi, Wyloo Metals CEO. On August 30, 2021, Wyloo offered to buy Noront Resources for $361m, outbidding BHP's $258m offer. On September 20, 2021, BHP Group increased its offer from $258m to $339m. On December 13, 2021, Wyloo raised its offer to $485m. On December 21, 2021, Noront Resources had agreed to sell itself to Wyloo Metals, while giving BHP Group five business days to match the offer.
