Berlin agreed to acquire 14,750 apartments from Vonovia, a real estate company, and Deutsche Wohnen, a German property company, for $2.9bn. “The return to municipal ownership gives tenants the necessary security that their apartments will be permanently in the low-cost segment,” Matthias Kollatz, Berlin Senator of Finance.
