Newmont, the world's largest gold mining company, agreed to acquire a 43.65% stake in Minera Yanacocha, a gold mine, from Compañia de Minas Buenaventura, a Peruvian precious metals company, for $400m. "Newmont has successfully operated in Peru for more than 30 years and has deep knowledge of the asset and the value it brings to Newmont stakeholders. Buenaventura has been an exceptional partner and we look forward to continuing a strong relationship," Tom Palmer, Newmont President and CEO.
