Mitsui & Co to acquire 27.5% stake in Mainstream Renewable Power from Aker Horizons for $606m.

Mitsui & Co, a trading company, agreed to acquire 27.5% stake in Mainstream Renewable Power, a developer of wind and solar assets, from Aker Horizons, an investment management company, for $606m. Mainstream is, as a developer of wind and solar assets, one of the leading companies in the renewable energy sector, in particular in Latin America and Africa. It has a successful track record of having developed 6.5 GW of generation capacity to financial close-ready stage, including offshore wind farms in UK. Currently, Mainstream has a portfolio of approximately 16.6 GW of high-quality energy assets in Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, which are currently operating, under-construction or in development phases.
