Whitecap Resources, a Canadian public oil company based in Calgary, completed the acquisition of the Canadian shale assets of ExxonMobil, an American multinational oil and gas corporation, and Imperial Oil, a Canadian petroleum company, for $1.5bn. The assets include 567k net acres in the Montney shale, 72k net acres in the Duvernay shale and additional acreage in other areas of Alberta. Net production from these assets is about 140m cubic feet of natural gas per day and about 9k barrels of crude, condensate and natural gas liquids per day.
