Sumitomo Electric completed the acquisition of Sudkabel.

Sumitomo Electric, a manufacturer of electric wire and optical fiber cables, completed the acquisition of Sudkabel, a high-voltage cable manufacturer. Financial terms were not disclosed. “We are delighted to have been selected by Amprion as a cable partner for two major HVDC projects in addition to the A-Nord project currently under execution. With the acquisition of Südkabel, we can fully localize our business in Germany to support Amprion and the country’s energy transition. Along with our new submarine cable factory under construction in Scotland, we will further reinforce and expand our high-voltage power cable manufacturing capabilities in Europe,” Masaki Shirayama, Sumitomo Electric Managing Director.
