Synopsis
Wien Energie, a utilities services company, completed the acquisition of ImWind, a renewable energy producer. Financial terms were not disclosed. According to forecasts, Austria's expected electricity demand will increase massively by 2040. Only a significant expansion of photovoltaics and wind power is the key to creating an independent electricity supply for Austria in the long term. Both Wien Energie and ImWind have been implementing numerous renewable energy projects for years. Wien Energie currently operates 500 photovoltaic systems, 88 hydroelectric power plants in Austria and abroad, and 106 wind turbines. ImWind operates 52 wind turbines in 14 wind farms and four photovoltaic systems. In the future, the two companies will combine their expertise in the development and expansion of renewable energy as a team and work together towards the common goal of climate neutrality by 2040.
