Synopsis
Middelfart Sparekasse, a Danish savings bank providing personal banking lending savings investment and insurance services, agreed to merge with Nordfyns Bank, a Danish full-service bank, in a DKK716.1m deal. “It is no secret that this has been a long process for all stakeholders around Nordfyns Bank. Therefore, we have worked purposefully to be able to present a merger agreement with Middelfart Sparekasse. With this agreement, we believe we have reached a solution that all parties around Nordfyns Bank can be satisfied with, while the board achieves its strategic objective of preserving a strong, Funen-based financial institution. At the same time, the agreement provides clarity regarding the future for Nordfyns Bank’s shareholders, customers and employees,” Per Maegaard, Nordfyns Bank Chairman of the Board.
