Roche to acquire Spark Therapeutics for $4.3bn.

Roche, a provider of pharmaceuticals and diagnostics products, is set to acquire Spark Therapeutics, a fully integrated, commercial gene therapy company dedicated to challenging the inevitability of genetic disease, for $4.3bn. “Spark Therapeutics’ proven expertise in the entire gene therapy value chain may offer important new opportunities for the treatment of serious diseases. In particular, Spark Therapeutics’ hemophilia A program could become a new therapeutic option for people living with this disease.
