Announced
Synopsis
Germany's largest food retailer Edeka agreed to acquire the remaining 10% stake in Netto Marken-Discount, a Germany-based discount supermarket chain, from Tengelmann, a holding company based in Mülheim. Financial terms were not disclosed. With the sale of the net stake, Tengelmann is cutting off its last remaining connection to the stationary food retail trade. Just a few decades ago, the family-owned company with the Kaiser's and Tengelmann supermarket chains and the Discounter Plus had been one of the largest food retailers in Germany.
