Funimation Global Group, a subsidiary of Sony and an American entertainment company that specializes in the dubbing and distribution of East Asian media, completed the acquisition of Crunchyroll, an American distributor, publisher, production and licensing company focused on streaming anime, from AT&T, a telecommunications company, for $1.2bn. “We are proud to bring Crunchyroll into the Sony family. Through Funimation and our terrific partners at Aniplex and Sony Music Entertainment Japan, we have a deep understanding of this global artform and are well-positioned to deliver outstanding content to audiences around the world.
