Raizen to acquire Biosev from Louis Dreyfus for $2.72bn.

Synopsis

Raizen, an integrated energy company and the benchmark in biofuels, agreed to acquire Biosev, a sugar, ethanol and biomass producer, from Louis Dreyfus, a global merchant firm that is involved in agriculture, food processing, international shipping, and finance, for $2.72bn. "Further to the expansion of the production of ethanol, sugar and bioenergy, this incorporation with Biosev, is an opportunity to leverage technology that drives productivity and the use of sugarcane in biorefineries, with the possibility of expanding our second-generation ethanol and biogas businesses,” Ricardo Mussa, Raizen CEO.
