RUSAL, a firm that produces aluminium and aluminium products, agreed to acquire a 4.35 % stake in RusHydro, a Russian utility holding company from VSMPO-AVISMA, a firm that manufactures and sells titanium products, for $220m. RUSAL becomes the third largest shareholder in RusHydro after the state (61.7%) and VTB (12.95%). Purchasing RusHydro’s stake is a strategic portfolio investment for RUSAL to strengthen its position as the largest aluminium producer with low carbon footprint."
