Worldline to acquire card acquiring business of Handelsbanken.

Worldline, a payment solutions firm, agreed to acquire card acquiring business of Handelsbanken, a Swedish banking firm. Completion of the transaction is contingent on the satisfaction of certain customary notification procedures and is expected to take place during 2021. Financial terms were not disclosed. Payment processing firms have seen a surge in business, helped by a pandemic-led shift to digital transactions, but in-store volumes have been hit by lockdowns in Europe amid successive waves of Covid-19 infections.
