SoftBank Vision Fund 2, a subsidiary of Softbank Group with a goal to invest in AI-based technology, led a $680m funding round in Sorare, a Blockchain-based fantasy soccer game. Additional investors include Rio Ferdinand, Gerard Pique, César Azpilicueta, Atomico, Bessemer Ventures, D1 Capital, Eurazeo, IVP, Liontree, Benchmark and Accel. "We saw the immense potential that blockchain and NFTs brought to unlock a new way for football clubs, footballers, and their fans to experience a deeper connection with each other," Nicolas Julia, Sorare Co-Founder and CEO.
