Synopsis

Edit

Suzano, a producer of market pulp, completed the acquisition of tissue assets in Brazil from Kimberly-Clark, an American multinational personal care corporation. Financial terms were not disclosed. Fitch expects the acquisition to increase Suzano’s market share in the Brazilian tissue market to approximately 22% from 13% and to improve the company’s geographic diversification by increasing its presence in the South and Southeast regions. This is in line with Suzano’s long-term strategy of growing its value chain and incorporating more operations from consumer products that provide stable cash flow generation through the cycle. Suzano entered the tissue business in 2017, and the segment does not represent a significant share of the company’s EBITDA.
