Synopsis
Tata-backed Air India, a flag carrier airline of India, agreed to merge with Vistara, an Indian full-service airline and joint venture of Tata and Singapore Airlines, a flag carrier airline. Financial terms were not disclosed. Singapore Airlines and Tata will merge national carrier Air India and full-service airline Vistara by March 2024. SIA's board approved the merger. The merger is subject to regulatory approvals including from India's aviation ministry, central bank and antitrust watchdog. On March 5 2024, Singapore's competition watchdog has approved the merger.
