Grupo Mateus, a Brazilian retail group, agreed to merge with Novo Atacarejo, a Brazilian cash-and-carry chain. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction will represent a strengthening of Grupo Mateus’s expansion strategy in the Northeast region of Brazil and the purpose of the Company and Novo Atacarejo of fostering the economy of the North and Northeast regions of Brazil, contributing to the increasing generation of direct and indirect formal jobs and providing customers of the Mix Mateus, Mateus, and Novobrands with an increasingly complete experience.
