Codelco to acquire 10% stake in Quebrada Blanca copper mine from Enami for $500m.

Synopsis

Codelco, a Chilean state-owned copper mining company, agreed to acquire 10% stake in Quebrada Blanca, a copper mine located in the Tarapacá Region of northern Chile, from Enami, an Ecuadorian state-owned mining company, for $500m. “Our strategy of developing and strengthening the company through partnerships will allow us to strengthen our position in the copper and lithium markets and, thereby, increase the value that Codelco contributes to the country," Máximo Pacheco, Codelco Chairman.
