William Chisholm and Sixth Street to acquire the Boston Celtics for $6.1bn.

Synopsis

William Chisholm, Co-Founder of Symphony Technology Group, agreed to acquire the Boston Celtics, an NBA team based in Boston, with participation from Sixth Street, Rob Hale and Bruce A. Beal, for $6.1bn. The current Celtics owners bought the NBA team in 2002 for $360m. They announced that the franchise was for sale last July, less than two weeks after winning an NBA-record 18th championship. Chisholm grew up on the North Shore of Massachusetts and is a lifelong Celtics fan.
