Synopsis
REN, a Portuguese state-controlled power grid operator, completed the acquisition of TENSA, a Chilean company that owns and operates electricity transmission lines, from CMPC, a Chilean pulp and paper company, for $71.4m. "This agreement is in line with similar operations that other companies have developed and represents a very good opportunity for all involved. In our case, it allows us to transfer a non-core asset to a prestigious operator with extensive knowledge of the electric transmission industry, which in turn guarantees better operations for everyone," Francisco Ruiz-Tagle, CMPC CEO.
