Synopsis
Rheinmetall, a German technology group specializing in security and mobility, and Pirochim Victoria, a state-owned Romanian defense company specializing in the production of explosives and ammunition propellants, formed Rheinmetall Victoria, to build and operate a new factory for producing propellant powder and modular propellant charges for ammunition in Victoria, Brașov County, Romania. Rheinmetall holds a 51% stake in the joint venture, with Pirochim Victoria holding the remaining 49%. Financial terms were not disclosed. “Propellant powder remains a strategic bottleneck within the defence industry. The new production facility in Romania is another step towards our goal of achieving an annual production capacity of 20,000 tonnes of propellant powder by 2030,” Armin Papperger, Rheinmetall CEO.
