Avast, a provider of security software to the consumer market as measured by the number of users, completed the merger with NortonLifeLock, a firm that sells cybersecurity and identity protection for individual consumers, in an $8.6bn deal. On February 24, 2022, NortonLifeLock received antitrust clearance in Spain for merger with Avast. On August 3, 2022, CMA clears a $8.6bn NortonLifeLock-Avast merger. On September 2, 2022, UK Competition and Markets Authority approved the merger, it is expected to close at September 12, 2022.
